About us
STROS company was established in 1960 and is located in the town of Sedlcany, 70 km south of Prague, the Czech capital. Privatized in 1999, the company currently numbers about 200 employees.
Initially, the plant production included driving platforms, sawing machines, winches and other pneumatic gear. Later the production was extended to include pneumatic tube mail systems for metallurgical works, hospitals, post offices, etc. The enterprise also established a design department. Then the production capacity was extended and the company started to manufacture new products.
In the mid 60’s the production of screw unloaders used to unload loose material began and the company also started to implement and further develop the production of lifting machines for the building industry, namely WP series work platforms and NOV series construction hoists (personnel/material hoists) with load capacities of 500 kg and 1000 kg. Furthermore, the production of suspended platforms used as mobile scaffolds was started. In the course of time, the company gradually became an important manufacturer
of lifting machines for the building industry.
In the late 1960’s the company started to export its products and the STROS trademark gained a good reputation. In the 70’s and 80’s the new V-series material hoists (load capacities 500, 750 and 1000 kg), as well as other personnel/material hoists were developed along with the suspended and work platforms series.Nowadays, the company focuses on designing and manufacturing construction hoists and their components. Its current production can be divided into five main groups:
• PERSONNEL/MATERIAL HOISTS (load capacity 600 – 3200 kg, one or two cages on the mast)
• MATERIAL HOISTS (load capacity 200 and 2000 kg)
• SUSPENDED PLATFORMS (length = 2 – 12 m)
• WORK PLATFORMS (load capacity 1000 – 3000 kg)
• SPECIAL & PERMANENT LIFTS
Besides the production of lifting machines the company produces continuous glass furnaces, acoustic enclosures and other steel structures. It also co-operates with a number of inland and foreign companies (welding, machining, supplying products including surface pre-treatment and finishing: paint spraying, hot-dip galvanising). The company also runs a paint shop and a blasting box.
Thanks to the efforts of the team of designers STROS ensures continuous development and innovation of its products. The company supplies special (customized) lifts, e.g. for transmitting tower staff transport, bridge repair, operators of silos and power plant towers, offshore oil platforms and ship repair in shipyards, and also those intended to transport personnel and materials underground (maintenance of electrical networks).
At the beginning of the year 2000 the certification of a new patented safety device, certified by the German authority TÜV Süddeutschland, was finished. This safety device is a very important component of hoists designed for stopping the hoist cage in case of an accident, preventing the cage from falling down.
